Before we had a monopoly on producing code, so that even the laziest people could get by. Now, they (probably) must watch out and compete. It is actually just awesome. Finally, there's something that will push us to become keener, smarter, more skilled, and knowledgeable.

Here's my take: these next token prediction machines have made many of us realize that producing somewhat working code is not enough to be a programmer. It is (loosely speaking) the easiest part in fact.

It was never about writing code in the first place. I'm not saying that we don't need to do it anymore, though (you of course can, if you like pain). Instead, we think and solve problems. This is the hardest, most time-consuming, and most important part. LLMs are not able to do that for us.
